Life Skills

Level One - Basic Life Skills

Training class for adolescent and adult dogs.

The focus of beginner obedience training is to learn everyday basic life skill exercises like sit, down, stay, come, pay attention, walk nicely on leash, leave it and polite greetings. We will also address problem solving and elimination of undesirable behaviours like jumping up and barking. Dogs will learn to focus on their families even in the face of distractions.

Level One classes are for average dogs. We expect some to be a little excited and some to be a little shy, but they can settle down after a minute or two, eat some treats and pay some attention to you. If your dog barks, growls, lunges or behaves aggressively towards other dogs, please see our Growly Dog class description.

Prerequisite: for dogs 17 weeks of age and older; all dogs must be up to date on vaccinations

Cost: $150 + GST | 5 weeks

Level Two - Continuing Life Skills

In Level Two, we will continue to work on teaching your dog to walk nicely on leash around distractions and to come when they’re called…every time! We will practice these skills outdoors (weather permitting) so we can learn to handle distractions of all kinds. We will learn how to greet people and other dogs without jumping up and practice manners around the dinner table. We’ll also learn some tricks and try out some agility equipment like jumps, tunnels and balance planks!
